River Drift Fishing
Salamander Sinkers snag resistant properties allows anglers to fish obstructions that would hang up traditional rigs. A host of baits can be used such as beads, flies, spawn, eggs, streamers, yarn work well with the drift method. Depending upon the current the angler can control the speed of the sinker by using different size weights.
Salamander Sinkers recently introduced the 3.0 gram ultra lite sinker. This sinker is designed for waters that were previously only accessible with a fly pole. It can be used either for casting or drifting. When combined with the correct line and pole it takes ultra lite fishing to a new level. View the video to see how the sinker works.
Below are different Salamander Sinkers rigs for trout fishing.
The 1/8 oz single swivel sinker with a fly is great for river trout. Dry flies work great because they suspend the bait off the bottom. This method reduces snags and makes the bait visible to the fish.
Use your favorite beads with a 1/8 to 3/8 oz double swivel sinkers.
Powerbaits are an excellent bait for trout because they float. Use a small hook and fluorocarbon leader to create a bait that will not only catch trout in current but in lakes as well.
Live bait always works great.
